NAFA Fleet Management Association held its first Fleet Excellence Awards Night on April 23, 2013, at their Institute & Expo, where they presented seven industry awards to fleet professionals. Synovia Solutions is pleased to announce that its partner - Houston Independent School District - won Excellence in Public Fleet Sustainability!
Houston ISD won the award for their documentation of key performance measurements, which includes fleet composition of conventional fueled vehicles vs vehicles that use alternative fuels (such as biodiesel and propane).
“I am extremely honored to work with such an outstanding team. HISD is committed to reducing idle time, increasing routing efficiencies, and using alternative fuels, and this helped us win this award,” said HISD Senior Manager of Fleet Operations Mark Swackhamer, who was also named by Green Fleet magazine as one of the Sustainability All-Stars for 2012.
Awards were open to fleets throughout the United States and Canada in the categories of safety, sustainability, and overall outstanding achievement. A seventh award was presented in the category of fleet leadership. The awards were judged by a panel of industry leaders, media representatives, and NAFA committee leaders. Submissions were narrowed down to three finalists per cateogry with the winners announced live on stage.
Houston ISD has been a customer of Synovia since 2008. They are running nearly 2,000 units on all of the vehicles in the school district (including school buses and non-school buses).
Congratulations, Houston Independent School District! Synovia is proud to partner with you.
